NADE Certification Team at CASP ‘08
An extra benefit of this year’s CASP 08 is the opportunity to attend the NADE Certification Training. This pre-conference institute is planned to help attendees design their programs’ theoretical frameworks, focus on criteria for best practices, and implement an on-going program assessment for goals attainment.
This training will begin on Tuesday afternoon, November 4 at 1:00 p.m. and end at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 5. Institute fee for this training is $215 per person.
King Ranch/Kingsville: Site of Unique Institute and Excursion
CASP ‘08 conferees will have a special opportunity to participate in both a pre-conference institute and a tour of the world famous King Ranch, the largest ranch in the United States and one of the largest in the world. This institute/excursion is a full-day event and is packed with activities that will make for a most fascinating day.
First on the agenda, participants will travel from the Omni Bayfront to Texas A&M University-Kingsville for the First Year Experience (FYE) Institute presented by Dr. Dann Brown, Dean of University College at TAMUK. Dr. Brown will relate the First Year Experience philosophy and the program designed to help the college freshman in his/her transition from high school to college. This program takes into account all aspects of the freshman’s first experience, beginning with the orientation and concluding as he/she completes the second semester of full-time enrollment. Dr. Brown will also share the program evaluations of FYE on the TAMUK campus. Participants are sure to come away with ideas and resources that may be implemented on their own campuses.
After lunch at the TAMUK campus, the group will travel to the King Ranch Saddle Shop that features all kinds of leather goods, furniture, clothing, items for home decor, and more. This will be followed by a presentation on the history of the Ranch. Next, participants will board a bus for an extensive tour of the Ranch as a tour guide explains more of the history and its modern day workings. You may even see a cowboy or two!
Those interested in going will meet in the Omni Bayfront lobby at 8:00 a.m. Vans will transport participants to and from the sites. This full-day institute/excursion [8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.] is available to conferees on a first-come basis. The cost is $100 per person. If you are interested, be sure to mark this on page 2 of the CASP ‘08 Conference Registration Form. Limit: 22.
